The Only Time by Todd Moore

pulse

THE ONLY TIME

i ever talked
to father abt
writing was
when he
was drinking
the whiskey
let him
talk abt
his pain
once when
i asked him
where he
got his ideas
he grabbed
my hand &
made me
touch the
pulse going
up & down
on his wrist
you don’t
write from
ideas you
write from
the skin
the blood

Poem taken from SILENT SKIES, Volume One Number One, edited by Tammy Anderson and built by Kurt Nimmo, 1994
