The Greatest Story Never Told

A universe in sleep’s clothing, S.A. Griffin lives, loves and works in Los Angeles. A working actor since 1979, he is recipient of the Dramalogue Award (Best Actor, Stage) and Kari Award (Best Actor, Commercials, Canada). Among the six killer cowboys in Clint Eastwood’s Pale Rider, he is the only left handed gunslinger in the wild bunch.

Best Performance Poet LA Weekly, he traveled the U.S. and Canada with The Carma Bums from 1989-2009. S.A. Griffin is the maniac behind Elsie The Poetry Bomb, a former Vietnam era practice bomb converted into an art object with over 1,000 poems from around the world stuffed inside of her. After her conversion, he then took her on a five week tour of the U.S.; The Poetry Bomb Couch Surfing Across America Tour of Words 2010, all done in an effort to inspire disagreements.

He is the co-editor of The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry (Firecracker Award) and the editor of The Official Language of Yes by Scott Wannberg (Perceval Press, 2015). Widely published, his most recent collection of verse, Dreams Gone Mad With Hope, was published by Punk Hostage Press in 2014.

In October 2014 he was honored to direct ‘Round About Midnite by Venice West poet Stuart Z. Perkoff for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In 2011 he became the first person to receive Beyond Baroque Literary Art Center’s Distinguished Service Award. Proud father, husband and Vietnam era vet, he is owned by two cats.

Live at Lockett’s is an intimate concert series filmed in Christopher Lockett’s living room in Los Angeles. It features artists from LA’s eclectic roots music and poetry scenes. The performers are grounded in a roots tradition, but are not bound by it. One camera, one lens, no zooms, no cuts, not even a microphone in frame – just a lone shotgun mic mounted overhead in a c-stand. Nothing between the performer and the audience.
