Nada by Steve Richmond

he

nada

he’s a junkie
issuing a call for help
everybody hears
but nobody comes

what he really wants
is just a small amount
of junk each day
legal and without fear

no way
not from this alcoholic
system
nada

oh he likes a beer
once or twice
a week
and a joint now and
again

but basically
he’s an opium junkie
issuing a call for
aid

everybody hears
nobody comes

Poem taken from STANCE No. 3 edited by Steve Richmond, 1982
