Airwaves by RJ Looney

Airwaves

A cold crisp night
Stars in the sky
Trucks rolling by
People working
The second shift
Driving home
Hoping
Their beer
Is still cold
When they get there
Wherever there is

I listened
To WLS
Out of Chicago
On a piece of shit
Panasonic radio
Mono
With a broken
Telescopic antenna
Lying
On the shag carpeted floor
AM drifted
So you’d have to adjust
The big dial
That ruled my world
From 1975
Until
Now

Hoping the song
You loved
You hated
You identified with
Would come on soon
After the commercials
About burgers and carpet
It usually did
